TC2 loom charms visitors at TechTextil in Frankfurt!

by admin
In what was a first time for us, we exhibited the TC2 loom at TechTextil in Frakfurt (Germany), a leading international trade fair for technical textiles. All through the four days (from 21st -24th June, 2022), there was a steady stream of visitors at our stand – from across geographies and across disciplines – and what an overwhelming response we received!
And with us on the stand was the 1-wide TC2 loom with 6 modules, which turned out to be a perfect choice! The 14.5″/ 36 cm fabric width and 90 epi/ 36 ends per cm warp density being just enough to get a feel of the fabric and see the designs and properties being played around with. Besides, the compact footprint of the loom (59″ x 34″/ 150 x 85 cm) meant we had enough space to walk the visitors inside our stand space!
We had also taken with us a bunch of woven samples, most of them made with technical/ conductive/ reflective fibers or rather fibers with interactive properties, for example with dyneema (offers energy absorption and enhanced protection) and nomex (offers mechanical toughness and is heat/ flame-resistant). The idea was to show (and not just tell!) that one can use technical yarns and still achieve different textures, designs and patterns.
And while Vibeke Vestby (Manager: TC2 looms) was at the helm of affairs, having Anita Michaluszko (from the Netherlands) and Lucia Schwalenburg (from Germany) meant that all through, we had the information flowing and the conversations going! Anita and Lucia are both experienced weavers and have been associated with us for many years now; they’ve also carried out installations and training workshops for TC2 customers.

There was a substantial interest in the TC2 loom from Technical Universities and Engineering Colleges, and we had many interesting discussions about applications and possible solutions. Research Labs and R&D departments within big companies also saw the benefit of rapid prototyping on a TC2 loom!
We were busy in conversations with visitors all day: Although tough on the voice, it was very rewarding!
We also had a fair number of existing customers who stopped by our stand, and at times it felt like a family reunion! It is a privilege to be updated on everything going on: Some asked for an offer for an additional loom, some were moving to news spaces…
At the end of the last day, we’d boxed up the loom and were set to head home: with our heads full of ideas and inspirations and our hearts full of joy and positivity! After four days of conversations with visitors from across segments, we learnt that the market is abuzz with new ideas and new materials and new approaches to bringing these to life. And what’s extremely interesting is that we’re at this unique junction, where both the manufacturers and the consumers have the same ask – the means of making textiles have to be both efficient and sustainable.
