TC2 Workshop at Hørvævsmuseet in Denmark

In September 2024, the TC2 loom was at the Hørvævsmuseet in Denmark, where Francesca Pinol, our representative from Spain, conducted a four-day weaving workshop. During the workshop, the participants were introduced to the fundamentals of creating textile structures and guided through the process of preparing weave-ready files for the TC2 loom. They also had the unique opportunity to bring their designs to life by weaving them on the loom. Francesca shares her experiences below…

The workshop at the Hørvævsmuseet spanned over four days (from September 23–26, 2024) and was for a total of 31 hours. During the workshop, each of the five participants selected two materials to create two distinct color-texture palettes. One palette combined one warp with one weft, while the other incorporated one warp with two wefts, both based on a Satin of 8 structure. Participants designed two patterns using up to seven colors, applying the textures they had developed.

On Saturday, September 28, Hørvævsmuseet celebrated Linen Day. The museum welcomed visitors to explore the entire linen-making process, from plant to thread. The loom was also in operation, with two demonstrations held throughout the day, offering visitors an opportunity to learn more about its functionality.

The Hørvævsmuseet specializes in jacquard fabrics and linen fiber, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore the evolution of jacquard looms, from early manual models using punched cards to modern industrial machines. This made it an ideal venue to present the TC2 loom, allowing participants to witness the technological advancements of weaving over time. Additionally, the museum showcases the complete linen production process, from plant to thread and fabric. Appropriately, linen was used as the weft material during the workshop.
