Third TC2 Trainers’ Meet at Digital Weaving Norway!

From August 31 to September 3, 2026, we welcomed our international network of TC2 trainers back to Norway for the third TC2 Trainers’ Meet at Digital Weaving Norway .
And this time, we were a bigger group than ever!
12 TC2 trainers from 10 countries – the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Spain, Latvia, the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, Italy and Finland – joined us for four days dedicated to technical training, knowledge sharing, weaving, troubleshooting and, just as importantly, spending time together as a community.
Our trainers play an important role in the TC2 network. They install looms, train new (and existing) users and provide support to customers in different parts of the world. At the same time, most of them have their own artistic or textile practice, many work with a TC2 themselves, and several are involved with universities, studios and makerspaces where the loom is used by a wider community.
A TC2 technical bootcamp
The first three days took place at our headquarters and production facility in Moss, with a packed program of technical and practical sessions. We began with how to prepare for a successful TC2 installation, led by Anita Michaluszko, who brings experience from more than 30 TC2 installation and training workshops.
From there, the focus shifted to troubleshooting and systematic error detection, using flowcharts, videos and real-life situations encountered in the field. The session was led by Ayse Simsek, TC2 Service Lead and our representative in the United Kingdom.
The technical discussions continued on day two, including a presentation by our Finland-based representative, Katja Huhmarkangas, who shared her experiences and learnings around environmental conditions when working with the TC2. The day concluded with a demonstration of AdaCAD by Laura Devendorf and Deanna Gelosi from the Unstable Design Lab at the University of Colorado Boulder.
On the third day, we presented our ongoing AI project for technical support, together with new instructional videos and digital learning resources. We also exchanged loom hacks, weaving tips and practical solutions gathered from working with TC2s in different settings.
This exchange of experience is an important part of the Trainers’ Meet. Knowledge does not travel in only one direction: our trainers work closely with TC2 users in very different environments, and the questions, challenges, solutions and ideas they bring back to Moss are just as valuable to us.
Putting the trainers to the test
Three days of technical training called for a practical challenge! Our production team, led by Tommy Sørensen, planted a series of errors in the loom for the trainers to identify and fix. The fastest problem-solvers took home the medals.
From the technical to the textiles
The final day shifted the focus from the technical to the creative – what people make with the TC2. We began at Drammens Museum with Textile Vessels, an exhibition by Norwegian designer Kristine Five Melvær, before heading to VEVFT in Oslo.
As Oslo’s first makerspace with a TC2, VEVFT gives artists and designers access to the loom, along with guidance, courses and opportunities for textile development and production. The visit ended with Norwegian TC2 users Anne Størseth and Anne-Kari Ødegård sharing their work and experiences with the group.
Growing knowledge – and a community
When we organised our first TC2 Trainers’ Workshop, the idea was simple: bring together the people who represent, install and teach the TC2 to strengthen their technical knowledge and learn from one another. Three gatherings later, the network has grown – and so has the value of bringing everyone together.
Today, the TC2 community extends far beyond Moss, connecting trainers and representatives, artists and designers, educators and researchers, makerspaces and institutions – as well as those hoping to work with a TC2 in the future.
For us at Digital Weaving Norway, the Trainers’ Meet is therefore about more than technical training. It keeps us connected to how TC2s are being used around the world, brings valuable experiences and feedback back to us, and allows knowledge from one studio, university or makerspace to find its way to another.
